"When a woman births a daughter,
she becomes a mother that births her best friend." Mama Raminyah In 1996, R. Raminyah Ingram, also known as Mama Raminyah, began the journey to uncovering the missing link that supported a healthy mother, daughter relationship from the formative years, throughout puberty and into adulthood. She would go on to college and slowly, over a period of years, discover that the paradigm of successful relationships between a parent and child was the ability to prepare for and nurture a daughter through the biological transition to womanhood or what is commonly known as puberty. Acting on this knowledge, Mama Raminyah created successful focus groups and cohorts centered around the worldview that motherhood is a scientifically organic process that is duplicatable in nature. The book Urban Rites: Momma's Manual is the first in a series of publications that establishes a guide for success. The inspiration for the book came from researching the experiences of women of various ages, backgrounds and ethnic makeup.
Mama Raminyah has had the distinct opportunity to train under the best. Learning the African Art of Healing with Dr. Llaila O. Afrika; training as a Sacred Woman under the tutelage of Queen Afua; mentoring at the feet of The Media Scientist and Pastor of Infinity Village, jeff o. carr; and establishing herself as an Elder through Elder Emily Gunter's Rites of Passage Youth Empowerment Foundation. She lives in Chicago, IL with her husband and two children. Raminyah is working on her second book. |
